Lesson 7: Conversations with Jeri:
Prologue to Lesson 8
3/29 Lehua to Jeri:
>>definitely Blue is my favorite color<<
Well, you may have noticed that the Easter Bunny left a few droppings
in your basket. When you are ready to resume, we will have a play
session.
Love & hugs,
Lehua
3/30, Jeri to Glenda:
Well, right now I'm working on getting a Web page up and running
which will do more for our tree. I knew the tree here would be
temporary due to the AZ sun fading the names and paint right off the
ornaments. Plus the tree is growing like crazy and I have to be
careful not to hang the ornaments too tight to hurt it. Lehua has
been coaching me a lesson at a time and it's coming along
tremendously, it's going to be great!!!!! TEACH is making me do it
all by myself (VBG)!!!
Love,
Jeri
3/30, Gene to Jeri:
My page is on hold. I built a few pages for our
company...specifically the engineering department. Just a suggestion
as they wanted to know how to get out the results of the reliability
studies. I suggested that they put it on our intranet and I built
about 6 or seven interrelated pages.
I am hesitant about mentioning another use for my web page because
you and "teach" will beat me up until I do it. So I won't.
I am very proud of your progress. Neat stuff, isn't it? I can't
wait until you post it. At some point soon, you could put up the
under construction sign and post it to the web. Lehua is a great
teacher. Very complete and patient and organized. What a great
teacher and cyberfriend.
Talk soon,
Gene
3/31, Jeri to Gene:
>>you and "teach" will beat me up until I do it. So I won't. <<
Well, I wouldn't beat you up but "teach" might keep you after school
a couple nights (ggg).
>> At some point soon, you could put up the under construction sign and post it to the web<<
Oh, sure you want everyone to see my mistakes (gg). I do remember
seeing different web sites with lots of "under construction" signs
and now I really understand what they meant by it. I don't know if
we're far enough along for that but I'm sure we will be soon.
It's so exciting to watch it slowly grow and it's just hard to
believe what these little commands can do to make a web site come
alive!! I always had a dream of being a programmer, gee now I at
least get to see how their logic works. Now everyone can be a
programmer if they wish.
Jeri
3/31, Lehua to Jeri:
>>I do remember seeing different web sites with lots of "under
construction" signs<<
And that's okay, as long as the links aren't active. It major annoys
me to go somewhere only to find there's no "there" there. I'd rather
see a "coming soon" list, with no active links. Actually, you're
very close to ready to put it up as is. It can then be groomed and
expanded on an ongoing basis. At the end of today, we could install
now, if you wanted.
>>it's just hard to believe what these little commands can do to make
a web site come alive!!<<
YESSS! My sentiments exactly.
>>Now everyone can be a programmer if they wish<<
That was my dream for 30 years. I knew that someday "they" could get
their act together, software-wise, to make this available to "real"
people, and the day has finally come. I am elated.
Love & hugs,
Lehua
