York Ghost Walk: Our guide Lee

The Ghost Walk

We had a wonderful time doing the Ghost Walk with our guide, Lee.

We did things and went places that we would never have alone.

It was a thrill to invade dark alleys and spooky places, and Lee is a superb tale teller.

York Dungeon: Woman peeking Surgery door

The York Dungeon

The "Surgery"

A guilty pleasure:  The York Dungeon is a terrible place, both of itself and in what it respresents, but I have to admit we had lots of fun here.

The staff members are quite the comedians.  This weird young woman popped out the plague-ridden surgery door just as I flashed, and I don't know which of us was more startled.

York Dungeon: David in stocks

David obligingly assumes the position.

Royal Museum: Dinosaurs: Postosuchus

Royal Museum:
Walking with Dinosaurs

A visit to the Royal Museum was made even more enjoyable by the addition of the dinosaurs exhibit.

We were able to see models of the dinosaurs in the film as well as many kiosks with elaborate films of how the effects were accomplished.

Here is a lifesize Postosuchus model.

Royal Museum: Dinosaurs: T Rex

And here, the fearsome Tyrannosaurus Rex peeks out from the bush.

Jorvik Viking Museum front

Jorvik Viking Museum

While digging things up for a modern shopping centre, surprised workers found an ancient Viking village.

The village was left intact and the centre built above it, and now visitors can travel through the site in little "7 dwarves" cars.

This attraction is complete with sounds and even smells, from the fires of sacked villages to... the cesspits.
