Plockton in the North West Highlands of ScotlandPhoto Gallery Set 7 |
![]() Throw your hedge trimmers and Weed Whackers in the dustbin -- the Plockton cows can do the job. There's ever controversy raging about the "Free Range" tradition. Farmers naturally depend on the centuries old right to maintain their animals. Residents equally naturally would like to have a surviving geranium or two, and laundry that stays up on the line. Tracking the news of this conflict, I encountered a farmer's argument that people should really be grateful given the tremendous job the cows are doing of hedge trimming and general garden cleanup. He must have had this diligent lady in mind. |
![]() And no job is too awkward or tedious |
![]() Having observed them quite a bit (as you can see), I would never have thought I'd ever see them running -- or indeed do anything other than eating and lounging -- but here they are. This startling show of speed was occasioned by a strange and very loud delivery truck. |
![]() This very funny cow was trying to scratch her head on the children's swing -- didn't work very well! ![]() But no quitter, she; when I returned quite a while later, she was still trying. |
