Though I'm not much of a shopper while traveling, preferring to be outdoors on the whole, Edinburgh is quite the place to find exquisite, unique pleasures (as is York).

It's also a stunning (literally) environment, with the Castle looming over you nearly anywhere you go.

I was quite taken with these intricate windows on Princes Street.

White Dove Crafts is a delight of a shop.  Right in the heart of things, and offering unusual things I didn't see anywhere else, including these masks and some arresting Celtic glass pieces from Celtic Soul
