Bone Scan

6/1/95:

Friends:

The bone scan went well, and was pretty interesting. The only bad part is the injection, then it involves only lying around. I got to watch me on the monitor. Everything looks good, cancer-wise, but the damage to my shoulder showed up very brilliantly. This is good, because I want it repaired, which is hard to get them to do with things they can't see. Now we can ALL see it! Lots of other interesting things showed up, but nothing related to cancer, so another test down & good.

Yesterday's tantrum seemed to do me a lot of good, my disposition's in much better shape. But all that lying around really wore me out, so I slept the whole rest of the day today, couldn't even watch TV. Each day the incision hurts a little less. Picaro didn't bring me anything good to eat today, I think he's fed up with my stupidity & ingratitude. It's still pea-soup fog here on the water, I would trade all my field mice, half-lizards, and gophers for one bit of sunshine. I guess chocolate donuts will have to do for now (big smile). Next move: Monday I see my surgeon again, who I think will turn me over to my oncologist at this point -- and hopefully we will have the out-of-state tests back.

So far so good,

Love and Hugs, Lehua

If Pícaro brings you something that looks like a chocolate donut, I'd suggest you not eat it. Same for anything that looks like a Baby Ruth bar. But a dozen of Winchell's devil's food would be a good idea. Chocolate's great for improving your mood (no BS). It even acts a bit like a fountain of youth. How long's it been since you had a really good zit? And don't forget ice cream - great convalescent food. I'd vote for Double Rainbow, either the classic Ultra Chocolate or the new chocolate sorbet. Put macadamia chunks or pineapple on top if you're feeling nostalgic. Or poi, if that turns you on. Good to hear about the healing. You'll be back to intimidating young men with them any day. Just don't underestimate the time it'll take to get back to strength, or overestimate what you're ready to try. We all miss you here, but don't be foolish enough to rush back before you're really up to it. It'll be a lot better if you recuperate more thoroughly now than if you push it and have a relapse. So don't sweat it, OK?

Sorry to hear about the crappy weather, too. Except for yesterday afternoon, we've been having great summer weather up north. I'm planning to make a rare Peninsula excursion tomorrow (a nursery in the boonies outside Woodside), and insist on sun and warmth before I'll venture south of the city. The six months we spent in SSF freezing our buns off eleven years ago are still vivid memories. Keep well. If you'd like a change from lizards and gophers, I might be able to send some mole chunks .

Reply to various non sequiturs from the bank team:

"Frank and Roman found an Exotic Dancer street sheet and were snorting about it like two elephant seals at Año Nuevo -- this from someone who claims not to know what hooters are... I carefully pointed out to him which end was the hooters and which end was not. I think he understands now."

ROFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFL!

As Rita Hayworth said, "I wonder what God had in MIND when he created men??????"   But bless your hearts, really! I'm so grateful -- I'm not there to help Frank with these technical issues, and perhaps I'm too careful with him, and holding back his progress. You and I will have to get together and work out his next lesson plan (include Lou, he has some GREAT ideas -- and I suspect, lots of experience - haha).

Love & Hugs Lehua
