The Grey Selchie of Sule Skerrie
Ancient ballad from Orkney and Shetland

I am a man up-o' the land, 
I am a sel-chie in the sea, 
And when I'm far frae eve-ry strand 
My dwell-in' is in Sule Sker-rie.

The Sule Skerry is a rock in the Atlantic about 50 miles southwest of Orkney.  It was first noted down in 1938 by Dr. Otto Anderrsson, who  heard it sung by Mr. John Sinclair on the island of Flotta, Orkney.
