These photographs are of the valley lehua, rather than the o'hia lehua. The valley lehua is the flower I'm actually named after. These photos were taken last November, during my trip to the Big Island to visit my son and my cousin. I almost wrecked my car when I spotted this stand of towering bushes on the road between Kaimu and Pahoa.
