Decorative border Title: Lehua's Tales
A Warm, Sunny Afternoon

Lehua ©2002

A warm, sunny afternoon
Summer petals twirled down
Landing in our hair

Stern rain strips the last leaves from the trees
Preparing to punish

A warm, sunny afternoon
We traded drinks
Becoming world class adventurers

The last pelicans left three weeks ago
Only I remain to huddle in the cold

A warm, sunny afternoon
You touched my nose with your finger
I traced your lips with mine

I searched today, drenched, for any flower
There were none

A warm, sunny afternoon
You told me you were mine and I was yours
And that we'd always be

  Winter came, and another
And still I shiver here alone.
